45th Parallel Universe Orchestra in Astoria, OR

A Night Made for All Music Lovers

Scandanavian music of old is brought back to life in this celebration of folk music and instruments performed by Greg Ewer and his fellow musicians. The title of this event is “Smörgåsbord,” and for good reason. The 45th Parallel Universe Orchestra will infuse this traditional folk music with their well-known creative flair and out-of-the-box approach for a night that truly infuses the old with the new.

The EventA traditional Scandinavian bowed instrument, the hardanger fiddle, sits on a wooden surface.

Of particular interest to this performance, is the nyckelharpa and the hardanger fiddle, both traditional Scandinavian bowed instruments whose unique sound adds a special element to these chamber music pieces. The performance will feature the works of Edvard Grieg and Carl Nielsen, both beloved composers whose work is still celebrated widely today.
