Need an excuse for a weekend getaway? Tell them you were Shanghaied in Astoria! ‘Part-vaudeville, part-soap opera, and part 1950’s style Hollywood musical’, this award-winning three-act melodrama has been entertaining audiences every summer for 32 years, and should be on your bucket list for 2016.
So get ready to travel back in time to 1904, and Astoria’s Scandinavian Midsummer Festival, where Miss Virginia Sweet must be rescued from her guardian by the Norwegian hero, Eric Olson. You can cheer for the heroes, sigh with the heroine, and boo, hiss and throw popcorn at the villains while you enjoy a tale about Astoria’s infamous history. At intermission, belly up at the bar in Miss Vivian’s Saloon for refreshments if you wish – a local draft from Fort George Brewery, soft drinks, hot dogs, candy, and that essential popcorn, of course.
The Astor Street Opry Company is ready to Shanghai you Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, and Sunday afternoons this summer.

Book now for an entertaining adventure and a tale you can tell on Monday morning.
